Sing to Me of Home – the book launch

Sing to Me of Home is now making its way to the world’s bookshelves! Seeing it take its place alongside the two other titles in my ‘home’ trilogy – Home Base and No One Home – is extremely fulfilling.

The book's gestation included me trawling through all my poems, writing new pieces, and a whole other realm of mahi from the wonderful Cuba Press and the students in the Aotearoa New Zealand School of Publishing course. It has been a week since we launched, and the afterglow of the aroha that I received from friends, family, and the poetry community of Pōneke is still glimmering bright.

The launch included readings of my work (and some of their own) from the redoubtable Harry Ricketts, Tim Jones, and Dinah Hawken. It was great to hear some of the words that I had written read by tutors and friends who pushed me out to sea and sailed with me on my writing voyage. My incredible grandsons also read ‘Song of the climate canaries’, which was very fitting as, like many of their generation, they are great green ambassadors and give me hope that the climate change battle is not yet lost.

I want to thank everyone that came to Aurelia Books (and those who would have come but for the exigencies of life) to celebrate the launch of Sing to Me of Home and offer my most heartfelt appreciation for the love that you wrapped around its welcome into the world.

Sing to Me of Home s available at all good bookstores, and if you don't find it there then do ask the bookseller to order your copy. Also let your local library know that it's a book worth having.
